Shiori Doi, originally from Japan, started studying the trombone at 11 years of age. She later studied at Kyoto City University of Arts with Prof. Shin’ichi Go. After finishing her studies with Prof. Shin’ichi Go, she came to Germany to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne, Germany with Prof. Ulrich Flad, where she received her Master’s Degree.
In 2013 she served as Principal Trombonist with the Summer Opera Bamberg. During the 2014 to 2015 season, she played as Praktikantin(a paid internship) with the Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz. In 2015 she was invited to fill in as Principal Trombonist with the Essen Philharmonic and with the WDR Funkhausorchester for years. She is also asked frequently to substitute with many orchestras in the region, including the Bochum Symphony and the Düsseldorf Symphony.
