Jochen Paule’s first experience with brass instruments came on the German tenorhorn in Bamberg, Germany, were he was born and raised. He then made the decision to continue studying music seriously, at which point he switched to trombone. Since that decision, he hasn’t looked back, getting as much input as possible from teachers throughout Germany. This led him to study in Hamburg, where he frequently participated in performances with various orchestras, brass ensembles, and other chamber ensembles throughout the area. After receiving his undergraduate degree, he continued his studies in Cologne, Germany, earning his Master’s Degree in bass trombone in the early spring of 2012. Along with classical music making, Mr. Paule has always loved playing in big bands.
